In 1986 an MA in European Theatre was launched, which has since become the MA in Drama & Theatre Studies.
In 2001 the joint honours BA in Drama & Theatre Studies (CK112) was launched.
Postgraduate Degrees offered by DTS include a one year MA and a Research M.Phil/PhD programme. Students regularly perform in the Granary Theatre.

But it must have a dark side, there’s so much sugar in it that nothing can survive.
A graduate of DTS at UCC and of the MA Dance Performance at the University of Limerick, Cathy Walsh is a recent alumnus of the Daghdha mentoring programme, and a member of the Buion collective. She tries to create using the range of skills she has and without worrying about compartmentalizing her work into ‘dance’ or ‘drama’, allowing the work to develop as it needs.

Rudolf Laban (1879 – 1958) spent the last twenty years of his life in
England and is remembered for his work his work in industry and his contribution to dance and movement education. One of his principal concepts he developed in this period was Effort, and this applied equally to his work in factories and when working with students of drama, be they members of Joan Littlewood’s Theatre Workshop, or students at Esmé Church’s Northern Theatre School. This talk aims to examine the term in closer detail, thereby offering an introduction to Laban’s thinking.
Dick McCaw was taught Laban movement by Geraldine Stephenson, who in turn was one of the first intake at the Art of Movement Studio in Manchester. In 2006 Dick wrote With an Eye for Movement, about Warren Lamb, another of Laban’s students, who developed his work in industry.
Dick is a qualified Feldenkrais practitioner and a senior lecturer at
Royal Holloway University of London.

Jocelyn Clarke has written numerous adaptations, and worked as dramaturgical advisor to a wide range of companies - from Blue Raincoat in Sligo to SITI company, New York, for whom he is currently working on a version of The Trojan Women. He has taught in TCD, Columbia NY and the Kennedy Centre, DC.
A Former Dramaturg at the Abbey Theatre, Jocelyn is currently an advisor on Theatre for the Arts Council of Ireland.

UCC Drama and Theatre Studies present Foregrounds 2011.
Foregrounds is the final outcome of Third Year DTS students final year project.
A collection of four different stories including, Markheim, The Red Shoes, Willa, and Letters from an Unknown Woman.
Foregrounds takes place from the Wednesday 23rd of February to Saturday 26th of February at 7.30pm in the Granary Theatre.
