Granary is presenting Edna Walsh’s acclaimed black comedy, Disco Pigs, at the Theatre from Mon 9 - Sat 14 July. This is the first professional 'homegrown' Cork revival of this ground-breaking work.
Described as ‘an Irish Clockwork Orange’, Disco Pigs is the story of Pig and Runt who have been inseparable since birth. Needing no one else, they reign over their own world, creating their own language and rules and carving their way through Cork in a reckless pursuit of pleasure.
But on the eve of their 17th birthday, their world begins to disintegrate. Runt begins to see there might be more to life, but Pig’s unpredictable nature begins to spiral out of control in a trail of violence and destruction.
"There is so much to enjoy in this highly theatrical play, choc-a-bloc with violent energetic scenes and language, and it is brought to life wittily here by director and cast...Shane Casey as Pig and Samantha Heaney as Runt both hit the ground running with high-impact and committed performances." Evening Echo
