“Are you tender, fragile perhaps? Then be warned. The tale that
follows contains scenes of mur
der, betrayal, adultery,
bisexuality, fellatio, castration, prostitution, pornography,
male, female and vegetable sodomy and at least six varieties of
drug abuse... Not forgetting the psychological torture, epic battle of sexual wits,
nudity, poverty, gambling, corruption, embezzlement, political scandal,
cannibalism, necrophilia, organized crime and group sex.”

From Cork writer Neil O’Sullivan and the
company that bought you Bedbound ("...completely
brilliant..." - The Irish Times) and Irish Theatre Awards
nominated Pondlife Angels ("...always engaging and often
superb...flawless control" - Fintan O'Toole), comes a spine
chilling, gothic tale of sex and death (though not necessarily
in that order).

Victorian melodrama meets Quentin Tarantino; at turns
clever, witty and gruesome, Neil O’Sullivan’s Meat is a
beautiful, bizarre, expedition into the darkest recesses of the
human psyche.

Part of the Cork Midsummer Festival

Cork writer Neil O’Sullivan’s first play, Hatch 22, was the
inaugural winner of the Corcadorca Playwright of the year
award and was produced in the Granary Theatre, Cork in
November 1999. Other plays include:- Blivet, Hammerhead
and Come The Evolution.

His poetry collection Honey, My Head is on Fire, was
published in 1999 and he has performed his poetry as stand
– up monologues at a number of local venues. Neil is also a
contributor for Irish Theatre Magazine, Cork Music Monthly
and The Film Festival News.

Since 1998, Asylum has developed and toured new and
existing work both nationally and internationally.

In 2005, Asylum, in association with Cork Midsummer
Festival and Cork Capital of Culture, developed and
presented the world premiere of Irish Theatre Awards
nominated Pondlife Angels by Enda Walsh.
