"Das Funf" is made up of some of Ireland's finest young jazz musicians. Led by drummer Keith Barry, they play a wide range of material from the contemporary jazz repertoire to original material written by members of the group. The group have performed in two Cork Jazz Festivals and perform regularly in Jazz hot-spots around Dublin. The classic organ trio sound fronted by the weighty brass of trumpet and trombone make for an altogether energetic, original sound.
"ZoiD" Guitarist and composer ZoiD has been concentrating on ways to improvise with electronics, building spontaneous compositions from scratch, creating a mix of many genres from electronica through jazz and free improv to contemporary classical. Norway might be the current centre for Europe’s jazz electronica, but significant green shoots are also coming up in Ireland. Daniel Jacobson embodies this digital new deal, happily straddling the acoustic and electronic musical spheres. In the past 2 years his ZoiD alter ego has spawned solo projects and large ensembles, and now this new quartet which bonds popular electronic styles like techno with jazz, free improv and contemporary composition. This groove-based, original quartet use a full array of techniques to bond acoustic sound with live sampling, processing and beat manipulation.
